Breakfast Clubbing #10
Week of June 17. Portland, Cannes, BK, Easthampton, CDMX, and DTBK instances info herein. And all last week's action (somebody make a spreadsheet of these topics!).
Hi all,
Portland was a kind of a home-away-from-home for me for most of the 2010s, so I’m thrilled that BC PDX is coming online. Alas, I’m equally disappointed to be missing the 2nd annual Breakfast Club Cannes this week - but I’m happy Amy and friends will be holding it down. All info (and lots of the lots of stuff we talked about last week is herein.
Read on.
A reminder of ‘The Rules’:
Everyone’s invited - especially you.
Feel free to share, bring friends, colleagues, family, anyone.
No agenda, no required buy-in, no RSVP. And no pitches.
Everyone pays their own way.
You’re welcome to subscribe. And anyone can join the group here, too.

Breakfast Club Easthampton 6.12.24
When I joined Breakfast Club a few months back in Brooklyn, I was at the lowest point I'd felt in a long, long time.
Isolated in the cold New York weather; lonely; increasingly meh because client work felt like, well, crickets.
So, I traveled to Brooklyn, begrudgingly, and joined one of Ben Dietz's breakfasts and, well...
Needless to say it totally changed my life. I left feeling so, so much better about work and life afterwards. It was absurd.
I used to host these bi-weekly/monthly rooftop shindigs with great steaks, cool people, chill vibes, all that fun stuff.
It was a BYOS (bring-your-own-steak) extravaganza.
I stopped when I left Denver.
And ending Steaknight was one of the saddest things about leaving.
Breakfast Club feels like a good replacement for that, and I'm excited to bring it here to the Hamptons.
We talked about... What is breakfast club…?👇
- a cool club with chill people where we talk about…
- Everything from the food in Bologna to the existential reasoning for being back in the office - or not.
- Religious conversion as a matter of pre-marital negotiation versus self-motivated reasons
- A resason to get out of bed earlier and connect with community
- No clue
- A thing I inspired.
- What happens in Breakfast Club stays in Breakfast Club
(Every Wednesday / 830 / Tutto Cafe - come hang.)
Peeps:
- margaret barcohana
- julia beynonson
- Haim Mizrahi
- Kevin Kollenda
- Jonathan Shoemaker

CDMX Breakfast Club Report 6.12.24! Per Steve’s Post:
The second-ever Mexico City Breakfast Club b'fast is in the books, scribbled lovingly into the ledger of huevito history!
At our table we talked about trends in Gen A schooling (less college), the unbearable smogginess of being (in Mexico City), the AirBnb'ing of the Americas, the paltry state of restaurant concepts (mimetic), the challenges of opening and running a restaurant in Mexico City (narcos), the pains and privileges of first jobs when you're a teenager (and how that's not really a thing in Latin America), the end times of Vice, and much more!
For this first-ever breakfast we were six, including Daniel Meyer, Rosela Barraza, Maru M. Iglesias, and Sergio Escamilla.
It was a blast, and we do this every Wednesday!
Everyone is invited 8am next Wednesday at Lardo—especially you!
Breakfast Club CDMX 6.12.24
Per Kat’s post:
A beautiful New York morning hosted by Cooper Cheatham (He/Him), joined by Negaar Misaghian Lauren Chao Brittany Wengel Pascal Luca Kouwenhoven Jill Meisner Theo Erasmus B. Emmit J.
We chatted - US vs Europe lifestyle (train from Spain to Portugal anyone?), the rise of audio storytelling, multi family homes housing families of friends, safaris in Botswana & Tanzania, biking when all your friends don’t, Broadway & plays in NYC (hot tip: Titanique and Dark Noon), being able to charge clients for “showers” before check in, less ROI more IRL, the loss of intimacy and connection at industry events, the evolving spirits landscape, new financial models for funded institutions and Dawsons Creek, we are not above talking about Dawsons Creek and Celine Dion.
Join us next Thursday, June 20 with Sherlen Archibald from We The Roses
🔥 June 27 - Jasmine Takanikos from BrandHuman
Join myself & Jeff Weiner every Thursday at 8:30am or every Wednesday with Ben Dietz at Le Crocodile/The Wythe.

The Athens Heatwave Edition. Per Amy’s post:
Shoutout to Matt Zara & Kendra Valentine for making it out on a 40-degree day [In June!] to chat over loukoumades [freshly made since 1935] about the magic of remote working, the future of AI, Island breaks and how tomatoes in Greece are the best. Full stop.
Next up, Cannes, see you Wednesday.!
OK, that’s it for this week. See you at Breakfast. And if not this week, another soon.
