Breakfast Clubbing #11
Week of June 24th: 3 countries, 4 zones. Vegas begins & Berlin comes online. Milan & Manhattan set + Lisbon, London and LA in the hopper. BC x FFNY retreat in Oct. And all the regs, of course.
Hi all,
Seems like every newsletter BC gets better. A bunch of new energy in the last seven days: Vegas /Berlin / Milan and Manhattan now on the calendar. Hands raised for editions in Lisbon, London and Los Angeles. Portland up and running, Juneteenth gatherings last week in Cannes, Mexico City, Easthampton and Brooklyn, and a great one in Downtown Brooklyn.
And I’m happy to announce (here) a special creative summit/retreat type thing happening Oct 14-17 in Mammoth, CA that Breakfast Club will co-curate with our buddies (and BC regulars) from Friends From New York. Details to come, but hold your calendars for now. Cause none of this stuff is possible without you.
Meantime, all the action from last week recapped here. Read on.

Breakfast Club PDX 6.18.24 Report
Per Scott’s Post: Happy to host our first Breakfast Club in Portland this morning at Proud Mary with Morgan Schick, JT Griffith, Nina Sers and (not pictured) Paul Dillon. Big thanks to Ben Dietz for starting this in NYC and trusting me to run with it here!
We talked about losing so many iconic hospitality brands (RIP Ace Hotel PDX), the growing wealth of available senior creative talent here, whether or not analog actually sounds better, the struggles of trying to sync four turntables for Zaireeka, ways we want to see AI used and ways we don’t, the dizzying amount of Summer camps available for kids now, missing the idea of The Bay more than the reality of it, the embarrassment of riches in options for those avoiding alcohol, skills we’ve honed out of necessity that we become sought out for… and more.
We’re going to be at Proud Mary at 9am every Tuesday. If you’re in Portland, DM me or just swing through. Everyone’s welcome!
Breakfast Club: Cannes 6.19.24
Per Amy’s Post: These wonderful early birds stepped away from the beach crowd for croissants & conversation. Magic minds, all of them.
Thank you for coming! Christina Therrien, Natalia Talkowska, Alex Bec, Eric Korsh, Ian Crocombe, Mike Bayly, Charlotte Williams, Anjali Ramachandran, Hugh Garry & me, Amy Daroukakis
Breakfast Club Classic 6.19.24 Report:
Smaller group for the holiday meant I got to chat to everyone this week. Among many other things we talked daytrips to Austin, the "Heat Dome," needing a name for everything, prom dates, underage drinking, cracking down on cannabis stores, men in short shorts, the male gaze directed at other men, GLEN POWELL as a ‘stop trying to make so-and-so happen’ guy, the star factory being broken, Timothy Chalamet as the Patrick Swayze of today, frameworks falling apart, hot trash not in a good way, exploring the political spectrum through RPGs, Jason Statham as Thomas Hobbes as the Punisher, the egotistical center of the American Project, racism and fisherman sandals, Thoreau, Leptospirosis, Miranda July and the freedom to play yourself, the limits of autofiction, the internet detective continuum, pretty avo toast, "The Four Daughters," being consumed by a work of art, the writer Mary McCarthy, the socio-political quandary of ‘the Museum’, the value of the Gallery, the context offering the sacred, the S.T.R.O.N.G.G. mindset, nihilism inherent in the Y3K worldview, ferrets as the mascots of the moment, dopamine dressing, big context shifts and of course Juneteenth.
The tight twelve today included Todd Sines, Zaira Stefani Vallejo, Emily Anne Epstein, Joel Linkewer, Jasmine Takanikos, Eva McCloskey, Sydney Allen-Ash, Lauren Wallett, Paul Greenberg, C. Mia Juhng, Ian Edgar and me.

CDMX Breakfast Club Report 6.19.24:
Per Steve’s Post: The third-ever Mexico City Breakfast Club b'fast is in the books, gracefully carved into the woodblock of our tocino-y times!
For this third-ever breakfast we were six, including Daniel Meyer, Rosela Barraza, Rosela's brother (not the one who makes tequila), and Gemma Craven (We're lacking a rundown of topics this week, for which your host is at fault, and which we will rectify next week)
But it was a blast, and we do this every Wednesday!
Everyone is invited 8am next Wednesday at Lardo—especially you!
Live in CDMX? Just visiting? Would love to meet you!
Breakfast Club DTBK Report 6.20.24:
Per Kat’s Post: Every once in a while family gets together, and brings more family to the table. It was great to see old friends from past lives all be together this morning! Thanks to Sherlen Archibald & Nadia Nascimento from We The Roses for hosting this amazing gathering and to everyone who came this morning: Kate U. Shannon Murphy Shayna Fonteno Karen Labuca Arpan Somani Ebenezer Bond Jade Akintola Adam Katz Saheedat A. Lucie Kim Jasmine Takanikos Marina Garcia-Vasquez Jill Meisner Oren Hod Rosslyn Ortega
We talked about - the highs & lows of private equity to small biz, the 5 kinds of Connecticut, checking the National Parks off your “I’ve seen America” list, moving from your hometown to the furthest point of the country, the pitfalls of accepting mediocrity, Broadway musicals, drinking the kool aid at the big orgs, oncoming heart attack or just carpel tunnel (?!), and more.
🔥 Next Thursday marks our last Breakfast Club DTBK of June, hosted by the wonderful Jasmine Takanikos of BrandHuman - we'll also announce our July line up of hosts!
Join myself & Jeff Weiner every Thursday at 8:30am at The Ace Brooklyn or every Wednesday with Ben Dietz at Le Crocodile/The Wythe.
Ok - that’s it! See you at breakfast. If not this week, another one soon.
