Breakfast Clubbing #29
Week of 10.28.24: BC is ON in Paris, PDX, Wmsburg, CDMX, Hamptons, Miami, Manhattan, DTBK, Cincy, Vegas, Jersey, and San Francisco. Hudson and LA in the hopper, Seattle, Boston and Toronto soon come.
Hi all,
We’re hitting another Breakfast Club milestone this week with the launch of BC San Francisco, hosted by Eve Lewis and Chris M. Gillespie. Per Chris’s post: “Okay so the response to this has been soooomewhat overwhelming.
So many people are coming who I love and deeply respect that I’m now anxious not everyone is going to meet everyone who needs to meet everyone. Should we play musical chairs? Set some people on lazy Suzans?
Event people please send help.”
Ha- you and Eve will do fine, Chris - I’m sure of it. Just like I’m sure that our newest branch - Nov. 13th in Hudson, NY (the “Friendly City,” apparently - will do fine too, hosted by Peter Spear of That Business of Meaning and Mark DePace of Ghost Robot and The Friendly City Creative Club.
It’s a bit of a full circle moment since I heard about Peter’s newsletter from BC regular Zaira Stefani Vallejo, became a subscriber and a fan, and this week was featured as a guest. Check it out here if you have a second and let me know what you think. We talked about Breakfast Club as a ‘superformat’ - and how the weekly ritual embodies Open Space Technology. More on BC Hudson here:
Last thing before the week’s events: I’ve had inquiries from folks in Seattle, Boston and Toronto about kicking off there soon - so if you’ve got friends in those places, tell them to sign up for updates. AND I’m happy to say Camp Cultivate, postponed this month, has a new date in February in Mammoth CA - with the benefit of snow, this time. Flyer here. Hope some of you will join us!

Breakfast Club Reports: Week of 20th October
Breakfast Club PDX - October 21, 2024
Per Nina’s post: “Fun crew this week, we laughed a lot thanks to Lainya Magaña's weekend visit to the Giant Pumpkin Regatta 🎃 Apparently a highlight of the Portland cultural calendar... We talked all the feelings we're having facing winter, the election and the new menu items at Proud Mary. I am grateful for the laughs after a brutal week of officially relocating to Portland (!)
Happy to see the lovely faces of Chelsea Place, Sara Ravid, Brittni Busch, Lena Fridman, Jake Terrell, shannon holt and missed our co-host Scott Crane.
We are at Proud Mary every Tuesday at 9am ☕
Breakfast Club Classic 10.23.24 Report: 3 year anniversary edition!
Per my post: At my table we talked about how Breakfast Club is like a motorcycle gang, international expansion, visiting from Copenhagen, getting haircuts in strange cities, boat shoe energy, LEISURE CENTER customizing SPERRYS, gift bracelets made by (our) kids, (or from Taylor Swift), lining up for bagels in London, Xavier Aaronson’s Bacon Egg and Cheese concession serving family at Noma, defending Joker Folie a Deux, movies being generally great right now, watching three+ movies a day, rates of inspiration absorption, making and playing video games, flying in from Singapore, moving to LA (but not driving or going to the beach) serendipitous meetings at The Hoxton, the history of BC Williamsburg, having a beatific glow, building a coherent social experience in the cloud (and corollaries IRL), Schrodingers Cat as a storytelling paradigm, the art of zine making, patriotic koalas, the menswear brand Fujito, Alex Mill, high-waisted pants, and a million other things.
The crew today was Lauren Wallett, Jillian Wolf, Amanda Dell, Eason Yang,
Keith Kawahata, Stacey Kawahata, Marina Garcia-Vasquez, Paula Herrera, Jared Ray Johnson, Julie Stein, Paul Greenberg, Radhika Malhan, Ruthie Darling, Natalie Gregory, Ben Jackson 💬, Dan Barman, Lavinia Bonne,
Charles Bane III, Marc Weissman, Sundi Brewer-Griffin, Ben Jenkins, Nick Bodor, Kalil Greenberg, Nimrah Khanyari, Eric Korsh, Nicolas BOICHIS, Elliot Aronow and Zachary Mallard.
We do this every Wednesday - come hang next time (or whichever Weds you want). Everyone's invited, especially you.

Breakfast Club CDMX report 10.23.24
Per Steve’s Post: “Being mugged by cops in Mexico! // Being mugged by cops in Bali // Being mugged by cops in Costa Rica on the only road to the airport, where they intentionally back up traffic so people will pay just to make their flight (diabolical!) // the Day of the graveyard alumbrada in San Andrés Mixquic (don't, tourists) // seeing La Llorana in Xochimilco (don't, uncomfortable) // face painting on Reforma (do it, enjoy it, be a kid again!) // the French doc series Deadliest Journeys on youtube and its Sorceror-like charms // the movie Terrifier 3 and the creative possibilities of liquid nitrogen // the job of foley artist: looks fun! // that one should abide by the three-strike rule for bro podcasts: stop listening if the host interviews Eric Weinstein, Jordan Peterson, or Graham Hancock // how walking without podcasts allows you the pleasure of thinking for yourself // how Mr. Beast's smile is very uncanny valley // how reaction shots rule the web, especially on youtube key art // the staunch and frankly right-minded refusal to watch any youtube vid if the thumbnail shows a dude like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Today we were a hungry and opinionated four, including Mark Holthusen, Daniel Meyer, and Maru M. Iglesias!
We do this every Wednesday @ Lardo!
Know someone visiting or living in CDMX? Tag them in the comments, they're always welcome 🤗

Breakfast Club Vegas 10.24.24 Report
Per Steph’s Post: No words for this morning's Vegas Breakfast Club other than wowww. By accident, we took a side hustle and fleshed out this incredible vision! (Like, changed a life.) While the explicit goal of Breakfast Industries isn't to talk shop, if it organically happens ...!!! It did today. It was the right combo of experience, wisdom, curiosity, and openness, and the right people sittin' around a table. Magical.
Thus, I will keep names and table topics private, but they were rich. You never know what can happen over breakfast. Hope to see you next week.
