Breakfast Clubbing #9
Week of June 10th. Athens joins the array, CDMX, DTBK and Hamptons recur and BK Classic makes a Club record. Plus Portland, Cannes and Berlin on the docket.
Hi all,
Today’s later than usual transmission has no bearing on the events to come this week. Athens enters the Club for an inaugural occasion, and more European action is coming up. Portland (OR) gets on the board too - excited about that one, since PDX is a bit of a home-away-from home for me. It’s all below, it’s all free and it’s all great vibes.
A reminder of ‘The Rules’:
Everyone’s invited - especially you.
Feel free to share, bring friends, colleagues, family, anyone.
No agenda, no required buy-in, no RSVP. And no pitches.
Everyone pays their own way.
You’re welcome to subscribe. And anyone can join the group here, too.

And, per Jasmine: “We talked about the fact that VC funding so many brands is now deeply back firing into a slower market, due to insane growth expectations. Also- we talked about that being a dynamic human, (doing more then one thing) is a value.”

CDMX Breakfast Club 6.5.24
Per Steve’s Post:
”The first-ever Mexico City Breakfast Club is in the books, in the annals, written into the cornerstone of desayuno history.
At our table we talked about selling christmas trees (never for a discount on xmas eve), driving busses (as a summer job, usually hungover), that time Walter Cronkite set his house on fire at Martha's Vineyard, the appeal of tiny upstate hamlets, the appeal of not living in the US, the appeal of living on the most expensive street in Mexico City (in Coyoacan), the pains and pleasures of owning a fast food franchise, the pains and pleasures of consulting for a fast food franchise, the fact that Chick-fil-A and Popeye's do NOT taste good in Mexico do NOT try them, how much Wal-Mart managers get paid (a lot) and the logistics they have to deal with (also a lot), how much Buc-ees' managers get paid (a lot) and whether the European mind can comprehend gas stations of that size (verdict: no), the American gentry that is car dealership owners, learning Spanish by watching TV shows about crime-solving male strippers, and Boston street layout vs Mexico City street layout (both terrible).
For this first-ever breakfast we were three, including Daniel Meyer and Gemma Craven.”
