Hi all,
After a big first week, we return to normal course of business this week. Breakfast Club (classic) will happen as it does every Wednesday in Williamsburg.
Recapping last week: at my table we talked "Breakfast Clubbing," the edifying joy of content creation, live DJ breakfast mix, the Kim Gordon record, spring in NYC, cringe parents, house music as a public good, luxury universal basic income, planning for future me, ‘taking the million,’ new american bar fare, hating the designation ‘my kid’, the fixity of business systems, politics and incentives, the energy required to change a model, being allowed to take risks, the Carol Sanford book "Regenerative Business", the counterintuitive value of doing the easy thing, the Truisms of Gary Vaynerchuk, the late days of social media management, high value uses of AI, letters from your fake dead father, ChatGPT as personal hype man, self help VR, dissociation as reframing, the narcissism of becoming the world’s girlfriend, the trap of binary thinking, intrinsic vs extrinsic motivations and lots of other stuff.
Also inaugurated a new practice last week - an ‘illustrated’ menu that started as a kind of sign-in sheet until Bane got out the watercolors and went in on it. See below. We’ll do that again this week and see what happens.
Great seeing Michael Fasciano, David Gill, Hannah Schon, Ebenezer Bond
Charles Bane III, Jeremy Judelson, Zaira Stefani Vallejo, Lauren Wallett, Tadzio Dlugolecki, Zachary Mallard, Ian Edgar, Leonardo Olafsson, Ben Hudson, Nick Bodor, Eric Korsh, Leann Abad, Kalil Greenberg, Jose Castillo
and Ugi Ugwuomo.
Besides that, we had a great time at the bi-weekly Friday edition at As You Are in the Ace Hotel downtown - thanks to Kat Popiel and Jeff Weiner for chairing!
As Kat posted “Brilliant seeing Thomas Murphy Brittany Wengel Dilini Weerasooriya, SE-AWMA™, CFP®, CSRIC® Sara Dempsey Jeremy Judelson Zaira Stefani Vallejo Jill Meisner Adam Katz Jemma Rose Brown Eric Korsh Kimberly Aguilera Ben Dietz ari levine Kim Mackenzie”
And then of course there was Milan … Amy Daroukakis and Moritz Gaudlitz hosted on Thursday for folks in town for Salone de Mobile - and it looks like the feeling took. As Amy wrote:
Brain dances with strangers, the Milano Breakfast Club edition.
“Openness is our shared language.”
Thank you lovely people, for taking a break from Salone del Mobile/hashtag#Fuorisalone to mix and mingle.
Nicoletta Boldrini, Carlotta (Charlie) Monzani, Elena Ruggiero, Charla Noel Caponi, Benedetta Gabrielli (Tete), Eleonora Pezzo, Alberto Imberti, Danielle Lesage-Rochette, Filippo Mutani, Maria Emmarosa Pigatto, Riccardo Trabattoni, Monica Radulescu, Alex Moore, Michele Bianchi, Christian Stefanoni González, Sarah Garcia Delporte, Andrea Basunti, Margherita Castiglioni, Davide Costa, Anna Maroncelli, Sara Lucchese, Maurizio Ribotti, Mariagrazia Berardi, Kristina Svensson, Ourania M. & Chiara Caponi all joined. And Charla and Moritz are planning the next edition now. More on that soon.
Last thing: Kat is over in London visiting family, and putting together details for Breakfast Club London this coming Friday (26th April). Details are still forthcoming, but if you’re interested (or have friends that should join), let us know in the comments, please.
OK! That’s it. See you at Breakfast. And if not this week, another one soon.
Ben
