Breakfast Clubbing #14
Week of July 15th. Brighton returns, London goes weekly, Milan looms and PDX, BK, CDMX, Vegas and the Hamptons would look great on a BC themed tee.
A Monday’s hello, all.
We’ve arrived at the dog days of summer for sure - all the more reason to take a little time and make sure your curiosity stays piqued. Lots of BC action this week to help. Lauren Wallett and Mike Bayly return to Foyle’s in London, Amy Daroukakis and Kim Townend will spend a seaside Friday morning in Brighton, and all the standing weeklies are back in effect. I can’t speak for Mexico City or Vegas but I’m betting the A/C will be cranking like it is in Brooklyn; and the Hamptons breeze will make it pleasant out East.
Hope you’ll join us - if not this week, another one soon. And barring that, feel free to share Breakfast Clubbing with friends, family, colleagues or anyone else who’d be interesting. Here’s a button:

Breakfast Club PDX 7.9.24 Report
Per Scott’s Post: ”Enjoyed another lively Breakfast Club yesterday morning here in Portland with Mikhael Romain, Kara Place, Nina Sers, Paul Dillon, and me, while the rest of the crew is on the move this week.
We talked about Summer travels, sarcasm as a sign of higher intelligence, struggling to relate to humorless people, whether job security ever really exists, why retirees prefer the desert, the intensity of water management in Vegas, films and series shot in Portland, new names for old things, whether a Long Black is really better than an Americano, how we all met each other, and much more.”
Breakfast Club Classic 7.10.24 Report
For the first day of my fiftieth year we talked YETI vs AARP, learning to sew, visiting New York, C2 Montréal, the VICE Media diaspora, NY state regulations, compounds in Nantucket, "Fallout" saving Amazon Studios, "survive til 25," sports as the marketplace driver, sports as the next investment by bubble, Stagwell's Sport Beach in Cannes, Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe’s A Touch More, Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity Lions as the new VidCon, resetting the value of paid media placement in an era of infinite media, should PepsiCo pay for placement or should creators pay for Pepsi, the Netflix ad tier model, writing left handed, coaching Little League, artists vs attendees as main attraction, bringing Jason Kelce to Breakfast Club, the inevitable Don Jr x Hunter Biden podcast, reading on TikTok, native understanding of social platform, the Charli XCX wall, the reality of streaming numbers. twilight code by @Janice Hallett's "The Twyford Code," voice notes as literature, audiobooks with no printed correspondent, influencer phone cases, artisanal pottery, camping in the desert, apartments with bathrooms in the kitchen, hiking, mountain biking, defining the word ‘innovation’, performing as a poet, hosting a storytelling open mic, the "Mortified" series of diary reading, the truncation of song lengths, recording onto Maxell cassette tapes, tote bags as contest prizes, the poets Archie Ammons, Jean Valentine and Diane Seuss, always editing, the zen terrorism of Werner Herzog’s voice, hectoring people via Venmo and unintentional birthday cards among other things.
The erudite dozen was Anick Beaulieu, Zaira Stefani Vallejo, Jen Vitale, David Gill, Leann Abad, Nick Bodor, Eric Korsh, Jaime Cooke, Dan Bradley, Paul Greenberg, Marc Weissman and me.
We do this every Wednesday at Le Crocodile Restaurant - and Jeff Weiner and Kat Popiel post up Thursdays at the Ace Hotel for our Downtown Brooklyn editions - tomorrow with co-host Joe Fucigna. I'll be in Boston tmrw - but you should go.

Breakfast Club Downtown Brooklyn 7.11.24 Report
Quite the turnout today at Breakfast Club DTBK. Special shout out to DJ at As You Are Ace Hotel / Atelier Ace who always takes such good care of us. And our co-host for the morning Joe Fucigna.
So many conversations about so many things. The glut of True Crime docs, Fitzcarraldo and the lugging of steam ships through the Amazon jungle, luxury apartment buyers in Gowanus turning a blind eye to their superfund surrounds...
We have one or two more gatherings before we go quiet for the month of August. Come join us! Everyone is welcome, especially you!
